That's where the Farley Foundation steps in.

The Farley Foundation helps sick and injured pets that belong to low-income seniors and people with disabilities.

The Foundation offers financial assistance to veterinary clinics in Ontario to help cover the cost of providing necessary veterinary care for pets belonging to seniors receiving the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement or people with disabilities who receive the Ontario Disability Support Payment, and who cannot otherwise afford treatment for their pets.00 Raised for People & Pets i

What a spectacular year!

This year's Fundraise for Farley Month campaign was the most successful yet. So far, 161 clinics and hospitals reported wonderful success, raising a combined $110,000!

The average Farley Foundation disbursement is $373. This means that this year's campaign will assist about 295 people to access emergency veterinary care for their pets - emergency care that they would not otherwise be able to afford.

Successes such as this year's campaign are allowing the Farley Foundation to constantly evolve to assist more individuals and pets. During the last two years, the Foundation made four separate announcements to increase the maximum yearly disbursement per clinic to $1,000 (up from the original $500), and expand pet owner eligibility criteria to include women at risk of abuse participating in OVMA's SafePet Program and disabled individuals receiving the Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefit.

Park Road Veterinary Clinic Wins Again!

For a third year, Park Road Veterinary Clinic (headed by practice owner Dr. Brenda Gough) has clinched top honours, raising a phenomenal $14,000. Two other practices raised extraordinary amounts exceeding $5,000. These two clinics are long-standing supporters of Fundraise for Farley Month, Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital (Dr. Ellie Cowper) and Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital (Dr. Jeff Kubinec).

With a very successful Fundraise for Farley Month campaign behind us, the Farley Foundation is pleased to announce a new category of eligible pet owners.

Effective December 1, 2007 the Farley Foundation now accepts applications for individuals receiving the Canada Pension Plan Disability support payment (CPP Disability).

This is the fourth category of pet owners now eligible for funding through the Farley Foundation:

• Seniors in receipt of the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
• Disabled individuals in receipt of the Ontario Disability Support Payment (ODSP)
• New in 2007! Disabled individuals in receipt of the Canada Pension Plan Disability support payment (CPP Disability)
• New in 2007! Women at risk of abuse who are participating in OVMA SafePet Program (a program to assist women at risk of abuse who are entering women's shelters to find temporary housing and care for their pets - visit www.ovma.org or call 1.800.670.1702 for details).

In November, the Farley Foundation surpassed the "1000th pet owner/pet assisted" mark. We are very proud of the Farley Foundation and of the amazing support it receives from the veterinary profession. Together we are healing pets and helping people at an incredible pace.
