For Veterinarians

As a veterinary practice in Ontario with at least one veterinarian who is a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA), you may be eligible to apply for up to $1,000 per clinic per calendar year in funding on behalf of some of your neediest clients.

Below is a brief summary of the Farley Foundation. Full details for veterinary clinics, including application forms, eligibility criteria, fundraising ideas, help in reaching out to the media, etc. are available on OVMA’s web site at http://www.ovma.org/farley_foundation/index.html

What is the Farley Foundation?

Farley Foundation assists a select group of eligible pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective (necessary or emergency) veterinary care for the pets that mean the world to them.

Which Pet Owners are Eligible for Farley Foundation funding?

Farley Foundation currently assists three categories of pet owners:

Seniors   Receiving the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
Disabled individuals Receiving the Ontario Disability Support Payment (ODSP), or
The Canada Pension Plan Disability payment (CPP Disability)
Participants of OVMA’s SafePet Program  Women at risk of abuse who are entering a registered women’s shelter in Ontario, and who are participating in OVMA’s SafePet Program.

Who is Responsible for Submitting the Application Form?

All applications for funding must be submitted by veterinary clinics. Pet owners themselves cannot apply for funding.

Can Applications Be Submitted for Veterinary Care Provided Before I Knew about the Farley Foundation?

Whenever possible, applications for funding should be submitted prior to the pet’s treatment. In some cases, (over the weekend for example), veterinary clinics may submit an application up to 72 hours after the treatment was provided.

Applications for funding will not be approved for veterinary care that has already been provided and paid for through some other means.

The pet owner must have a pre-existing veterinary-client-patient-relationship (VCPR) with the practice seeking funding on behalf of that pet owner.

Thank you for helping people and pets in need.
