It's the great debate for cat owners. Should cats be kept indoors or allowed to roam free?

Cat's love to explore, and trips outside can be an adventure. However, it is much safer to keep your feline companion indoors. [It is also much safer for the birds and wildlife your cat might hunt!]

Each year, thousands of cats fall victim to cars, wildlife, animal cruelty and other hazards. Outdoor cats are also more likely to come into contact with parasites, viruses and diseases. Some municipalities now require cats to remain on their owner's property.

Your cat will thank you if you keep it within the safety of your home. Indoor cats do not have to contend with fleas, skunks, predators, cars, traps, extreme temperatures, or territorial neighbourhood pets. They are much less likely to be stolen or wind up at the local animal shelter. Indoor cats don't anger your neighbours by relieving themselves on prize-winning gardens. The life expectancy of an indoor cat is up to six times longer than that of outdoor cats.

If you can't bear the thought of keeping your cat indoors, supervised outdoor excursions may be the answer. Train your cat to wear a leash and supervise it outdoors at all times.
