Willie was the first pet to receive funding from the Farley Foundation.

On January 9, 2002, the Foundation approved a funding request for $350 to cover part of the cost of bladder stone surgery for the four-year-old cat.

The funding request came from Dr. Douglas Boeckh at Merivale Cat Hospital in Ottawa.

"Willie was in rough shape

when we first saw him," said Dr. Boeckh. "Bladder stones are very uncomfortable and without treatment, they can lead to medical complications

that eventually prove fatal."

Fortunately for Willie, Dr. Boeckh had heard of the Farley Foundation and quickly completed an application for funding.

"Our request was approved very quickly and we were able to perform the surgery right away," said Dr. Boeckh.

Today, Willie is cheerfully oblivious to the hoopla surrounding his surgery. His owner is happy to have him back at home.

This happy ending would not have been possible without the Farley Foundation and the generous support of our donors.
