Who is Eligible for Funding?

Ontario veterinary clinics can apply for funding to offset the cost of providing treatment for the pets of elderly and disabled pet owners who:
1) cannot pay for all or part of the medical treatment required by their pets, and
2) receive either the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or the Ontario Disability Support Payment (ODSP) or the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Disability Benefit, or
3)
are women participating in OVMA's SafePet program.

Applying for Funding:
You must follow four steps when applying for funding from the Farley Foundation:
1) Verify that the client cannot otherwise pay for the required medical care.
2) Verify that the client is receiving the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Ontario Disability Support Payment, or the Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefit.
3) Provide a description of the companion animal's medical condition and an estimate for treatment.
4)
Submit the funding request to the Farley Foundation offices.

Applicatons for funding should be made prior to the provision of treatment. Where that is not possible, the Foundation will accept funding applications up to three days after the completion of the treatment for which funding is being sought. Applications received more than three days after the completion of treatment will not be considered.

A decision concerning funding approval will usually be made within 24 hours of receipt of the necessary information from the veterinarian.

Pet Owners:
Please note that:
1)
Pet owners cannot apply for funding. Only veterinary clinics may apply for funding.
2) Funding will only be provided to a veterinary clinic if a pet owner cannot otherwise pay for the required treatment, and if the pet owner receives either of the designated government support payments.
3)The funding available to each clinic is limited. Clinics may not receive funding for all qualifying pets.
